12/31/02:
Okay. I did not finish Yipe! III for Windows before Christmas. Here's a quick rundown of my life in case any of you are curious. I work full time for
a software company. Thus, I spend all my time on a computer, which makes it hard to get back on a computer when I get home and work on Yipe! projects.
I rely mostly on having free weekends where I can just devote a day's work for Yipe! Unfortunately, free weekends rarely seem to happen.
Currently I'm about 50% done with Yipe! III for Windows. I won't make anymore promises as to when I'll finish it. I'll keep you updated here as to what % I've finished
whenever I get some more work done on the game. Sorry about the long time and failed predictions of finishing.
10/1/02:
I've finished moving. I'm finally settled in a nice house in Chico, CA and I plan to stay here for quite some time. Well, at least as long as I can keep paying the mortgage. I've got a little office finally set up and this past week I actually got some work done on Yipe! III for Windows. I know I'm way off on my goal of finishing this project during the summer. So, I'm now predicting that I can get it all done before Christmas 2002. Wish me luck.
2/14/02:
Yipe! Software is MOVING!!
Well, it looks like Chico didn't let me leave after all.
My company in Oakland moved up to Chico almost 1 year ago and it's finally time for me to stop working out of my kitchen (Oakland apartments are small) and move on up to Chico.
Thus, I now have a new address for registrations:
Kevin Kinell
PO Box 7717
Chico, CA 95927-7717
1/6/02:
GASP!! The High Scores page is back and working
again?? Please submit your current Yipe! III High Scores as I've reset the
pages and I'm creating new High Scores for 2002. Submit your score code
to: yipescores@aol.com
Check out the High Scores Page
12/27/01:
Hmm... once again, non-related to Yipe! Software, here's a new page about some old Sports Illustrated Issues I'm selling:
12/05/01:
Okay, this isn't the most exciting news... but I now
have a new way of accepting registration payments. This
will help people who need to pay with a credit card or debit card and don't want
to wait for a PayPal account to be created. The service is called
MoneyMover. You can purchase a money order through their website and they
will then send it to me.
You can check out more info on the Yipe! III registration page or at
MoneyMover.com. UPDATE!! As of 11/1/02, MoneyMover.com is no longer accepting money orders. Online payments can now only be made via PayPal.com.
10/27/01:
Yipe! I and II for Windows have been released!
Check the Yipe! II webpage for more info! 8/5/01:
I guess I'm back to 6 month updates. Not good. However, I have been keeping up with emails and registrations on a daily basis!
I've got Yipe! II for windows nearly complete. The main problem is finding the time
to work on this project. My real job tends to keep me rather busy. Plus it's Football season, so my weekends have even less free time. Added some screen shots to the Yipe! III pages. Oh... one other nice thing. The May 2001 issue of MacAddict included Yipe! III v1.4 on the CD-ROM that comes with the magazine!
2/3/01:
GASP!!!
Have I actually started doing something?
Yes!!
The new Yipe! Software website is finally getting somewhere.
Also... here is an interesting rumor... I've heard that Quest
of Yipe! (Yipe! I) for Windows is nearly complete. Personal updates:
Yipe updates: Sometime in June of 2000:
Started accepting online PayPal
payments. You can now get your full registration code in minutes
(Mon - Fri).
I also moved physical locations. If paying via snail mail,
make sure to contact me for the latest
payment location.
7/8/99:
Started working on piecing the new Yipe! Website together.
For now, I'm setting up the foundation of the page. I'll slowly put
more and more on here as time permits.
Good news... Yipe! IV is in progress. Of course you probably don't
believe anything I say in my news anymore. (Especially if you've read all
the below dates and info, and realize I'm at least 1 year behind on everything
I said I'm supposed to be finished with by now).
Anyway, I feel pretty strong about my current situation.
Programming guru Chris (A guy I work with) is teaming up with me
on this new project.
Here are a few limited details:
Both a Mac and PC version will be released at the same time.
It will be both multi-player and single-player.
The multi-player version will consist of a huge online world where
you can interact with other players.
There is no current scheduled release date. In the next month or
so, we should have a better idea of how much time the project will take.
2/16/99:
Well... I think it's about time I posted some new news here on the
news page.
For those of you who do not know, I finally finished school and got
a real job. Yeap, I now work full time as a programmer for a local software
company.
While that is good news for my income, it's bad news for my other
activities. The main one affected being Yipe!. I haven't had nearly as
much time as I would like to put into making new versions of Yipe! and
converting it to Windows.
I hope once I get accustomed to my new schedule, I'll have some time
to put back into Yipe!.
11/29/98:
Just thought I'd share with you my exciting event for the day. I
grade papers for a programming class here at Chico State. One of my students
named their html page: index.html. Well, I accidentally moved it into my
web directory overwriting my normal page.
So, for about an hour, if you tried to go to my webpage, you got
a random JAVA applet that didn't even work.
Yipe! news: Umm... nothing really new today.
11/5/98:
Version 1.4 of Yipe! III is released.
This new version is mostly to fix a bug that would not let certain
characters finish the game if they killed the final monster in a certain
way.
I have set goals for finish dates on upcoming Yipe! products:
Yipe! IV for the MAC: 12/25/98 (Or as close as possible)
Yipe! III for Windows: Sometime in late January of 1999.
(7/8/99 Note: You can see I was way off in my goal dates).
6/29/98: The new and improved Yipe! Software website is now in place.
Look for the new Yipe! Software Customer Survey.
(7/8/99 Note: Survey disabled for the time being).
More Good News... Today I purchased a new Pentium II computer (Ack! it's not a Mac!)
and will begin to start converting Yipe! III to Windows again.
5/20/98:
Good News: A new version of Yipe! III has been released!
Version 1.3 hit the world on 5/20/98.
The major new features for Yipe! III version 1.3 include:
Added 2 new Spells, which can be learned around level
34 and 40.
Added a window listing names of the first people to
finish Yipe! III
Added some keyboard shortcuts:
You can now press 'u' in the items window
to use an item.
You can now use the left and right arrow
keys to switch between which monster you are currently attacking when fighting
more than 1 monster at a time.
Modified King's Messages
Increased chance of finding Rainbow key
Updated and added some signs
Bad News: I no longer have the Gateway computer I was working on.
What this means is that the conversion from Mac to Windows
will be delayed until I get another computer.
3/1/98:
I've finally started working on converting Yipe! III to Windows.
Actually, I'm first working on converting Yipe! I for practice and
then I will skip to Yipe! III.
I hope to have Yipe! I finished sometime this month.
As usual I'm behind in processing emails, orders, printing hintbooks,
and all that stuff.
If you received your email registration letter by 2/15/98 you should
have also received whatever else you ordered by now. (Like your hintbook
and/or disk). If not, be sure to send me an email message.
In case you didn't know. I typically am able to check my AOL email
address more often than my regular email address. My AOL address is: YipeSft@aol.com
If you know any Yipe! news... feel free to send it to
me.

It is also rumored that
Yipe! II and III are under progress and that as soon as all three are finished,
they will be released together.
6/26/00:
Okay. That sounds like a lot of thinking and not a lot
of action. But, it's a step.
You can use your VISA/MC with PayPal to register Yipe! Payments
are made to email addresses. To register
Yipe!, use the email address: yipesft@yahoo.com and make sure
to include your name, address, email, and Yipe! III serial number.
Sign up for an account at: PayPal.
(6/26/00 Note: Umm... I promise never to make estimates on
release dates again).
